Should I fit a single channel
programmer and a room thermostat or a programmable room thermostat
to my combination boiler?
The answer to this very much
depends on the user preference - both solutions provide the
necessary heating control that should help save energy. The
programmer and thermostat solution allows the time control and the
temperature control to be located at different locations within the
home. Usually the programmer would be located next to the boiler
and the thermostat would be located in the main living area. With
this setup it is usually much easier for the people living in the
house to adjust the temperature however the time control remains
protected from unwanted changes. Whereas with a programmable room
thermostat the unit requires to be located in the main living area,
meaning that the householder can easily adjust the temperature and
override the time control.
