Bright Future for Sunvic Controls
This is an exciting time of change for Sunvic Controls, with new management, new ownership and a new philosophy the future is looking bright.
The secret of the regeneration is putting the customer and application as the number one focus and moving away from the inwardly looking stance held previously.
Sunvic has been in the industry for over 60 years and is probably best known for its TLX room thermostats and valves which were fitted into the lion’s share of new build during the 1970s-80s.
As one of the industries main players during this era Sunvic grew from strength to strength and developed a brand synonymous with high quality, which often set the way for industry standard.
To this day, Sunvic remain in their premises just outside Glasgow and a great majority of the employees have between 20 and 40 years service with the company. Infact, this month we will sadly say goodbye to one of our team who has been with the company for 50 years.
It is the product and industry knowledge held by these people that gives Sunvic a competitive edge.
When I took the challenge of managing Sunvic it was clear that there was something special about this particular company, and now, 16 months into the job I am getting closer to being able to articulate that ‘something’
The heart of the company is know how and the level of expertise which exists in key areas of design, manufacturing and technical departments keeps us a step ahead.
What I have tried to bring to the organisation is a set of modern business frameworks which can bring out the best in the Sunvic team. I believe that it is my responsibility to ensure that each and every member of the team is given the environment and tools for success.
It is also necessary to develop a much stronger marketing orientation whereby we work closely with our key customers on new product design projects and make sure we are listening to the views of the installers and end users.
The new status of private ownership means we have more control of our destiny and are excited about this new era in the Sunvic history. The market can expect to see some very visible changes from Sunvic, from its image through to its product and of course service levels.
Sunvic has a history of developing innovative product, from the Select and Simplex programmers through to the more recent Simpro and MoMo. Latest independent research on the MoMo has brought some interesting results with regards to energy efficiency.
